“We turn not older with years but newer every day” -Emily Dickenson
If you’re on a plane, train, walking down the street, in a cafe, or even on the highway I encourage you to look to the person next to you.
In the least creepy way possible study their face, their wrinkles, hair texture, eccentricities. Look at their clothes, their meal, if they are reading or not. Be curious.
Today there is so much divisiveness in the world that we are all each-others enemies but more than likely that person is sitting online like you right now, villianaizing or humanizing whatever is on their feed or news or podcast.
Could be villianizing or humanizing people just like you. But here you are, in this shared space, in this same frame of time experiencing the world together. the odds of you two existing are less than 1 and 20 million. And if a bank robber came in right now or a terrorist you two would have a shared experience that reminds you both of your humanity. Together. Take a second and think about that strangers parents, kids, scars, heartbreaks, kindnesses that they may have done for others.
Romanticize them.
That is your task.
